Biglight is a leading provider of specialist multi-channel support to retailers, helping them define and implement their strategies and optimize the performance of their ecommerce businesses.

Over the last 4 years we’ve helped retailers shape their strategic direction, create their first online channels, improve their existing ecommerce businesses and we’ve even managed their online businesses for them over peak season.

Every member of the Biglight team has an online retailing background and we don’t sell ecommerce solutions, so everything we do is based on real experience and any advice we provide is passionately impartial.

Steve Borges – Partner
Steve Borges - Founder

Steve set up Biglight in 2004 with the aim of helping retailers define and deliver their multi-channel strategies. The business has since become a leading provider of ecommerce advice and support to leading UK retailers and luxury brands.

From 1999-2004 Steve was at Dixons Stores Group (now DSGi) where he held a number of senior roles, before becoming Group Director of Advertising and Direct Businesses. In this role he was responsible for the ecommerce businesses of Currys, PC World, Dixons and The Link, as well as the group’s advertising and direct marketing activities.

Steve began his career with Philips Electronics, where he worked in the UK and France and held a variety of roles in Finance, Marketing, PR and Customer Services. Steve began his long association with the internet in 1994, when he created Philips Medical Systems’ first website.

Steve is a Chartered Management Accountant; he has an MBA from The University of Strathclyde and is an Alumnus of the Windsor Leadership Trust. He is fluent in French and working hard to improve his Spanish.

Jane Gleadall - Partner
Jane Gleadall - Partner

Jane became a partner of Biglight in the spring of 2007 having acquired more than 10 years’ experience creating, changing and running online businesses in the retail, publishing and leisure sectors.

Until recently Jane was Digital Director of Loot Ltd, part of Associated Newspapers, where she was responsible for digital strategy, web development and every aspect of running an online business. Prior to this she was Ecommerce Director with Dixons Stores Group, where she experienced at first-hand the issues of a large multi-channel retailer.


Jane has a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration and is a member of the Chartered Institute of Marketing. She enjoys active sports, such as skiing and mountain biking but, since her young son has been around, she hasn’t been able to participate in them as often as she would like.

Mark Lewis – Senior Associate

Mark has worked with Biglight since 2006, having developed an excellent reputation as an independent consultant in his own right. Over the last 5 years, Mark has completed major projects for River Island, Oasis Stores, Hewlett-Packard, Acorn Hotels and Berry Brothers & Rudd.

Mark has an extensive background in technology and retail management. Born into a retailing family, he later built a 12-store chain of fashion and outdoor clothing stores, before selling this and becoming IT Director of a new retail venture from the creator of River Island.

It was in this role, in 1998, that Mark launched his first ecommerce business – an award winning site that had customer facing functionality years ahead of its competition, but which came in on time (10 weeks, from standing start to go live) and budget.

After a period as a senior manager in a £9m technology start-up, Mark was invited by the CEO of River Island to assist them with their first ecommerce venture. This began his consulting career.

Mark has a bachelor’s degree in Music from the University of Miami, where he majored in Music Theory & Composition, and minored in Jazz Piano Performance. He still plays & writes – when he has the time!

Chris joined Biglight in August 2007, having spent the previous eight years in the ecommerce agency sector. Over the last five years Chris has worked with many of the UK’s leading retailers including Halfords, Lakeland, TUI and Links of London, helping them to define and develop their online proposition and back-office processes.

His most recent work includes ecommerce project management with L’Oreal, data analysis and marketing consultancy with TUI and business development consultancy with a number of software and marketing companies.

Chris has a Bachelor’s degree in Economics. He plays squash, cycles and skis.
